Short summary
This study investigates how weather types drive nocturnal ozone increase. We resolve four primary weather types in the North China Plain: A-type (57.89 %), S-type (19.88 %), WNE-type (14.04 %), and C-type (8.19 %). Driven by these weather systems, high-pressure subsidence (A-type), cold pool subsidence and shallow convection (C-type), synoptically-driven wind shear (S-type and WNE-type) act as key drivers, facilitating the intrusion of ozone-rich air to the surface.
