Short summary
We show that stratospheric ozone intrusions associated with sudden stratospheric warming events occurring concurrent with the westerly phase of the Quasi-biennial oscillation enhance ozone in the upper troposphere and lower stratosphere over South Asia. The ozone enhancement increases ozone radiative forcing by 0.09±0.05 W m-2 over South Asia. This increase in ozone radiative forcing potentially exacerbates regional climate warming.
