Short summary
Using a new national network of 80 cloud radars, we mapped how clouds are layered and how high they reach across China. Clouds vary strongly by region, season, and time of day, with deeper clouds in humid conditions and shallower clouds under stable or strong shear conditions. Afternoon single‑layer low CBH is significantly higher than all‑hour, especially over evergreen broadleaf. These findings help improve weather and climate predictions.
