Based on the two reviews it is clear that this paper provides certain insight into aerosol chemical processes of the atmosphere under study (subtropic environment), although the experimental basis of the work has essential shortcomings. The referees clearly stated these shortcomings, which limit the novelty of the paper: 1) AMS measurements are not sensitive to particles below 50 nm (where the issue of "nucleation" slowly starts to become interesting) and 2) the paper covers just some five observed cases of NPF.
Given these shortcomings, and the large number of other aerosol studies related to atmospheric nucleation that can show off a better scientific basis, I advocate you to change the MS in a few places, taking a more sincere and humble approach.
The current title “Investigation into the Chemistry of New Particle Formation and Growth in a Subtropical Urban Environment” sounds too ambitious and should be changed. I propose to consider a title like “Some insights into the growth of newly formed particles in a subtropical urban environment”. I think such a title would match the achievements of this paper more precisely. Leaving away the “nucleation” aspect in the title makes it clear from the beginning that it is the growth that is really investigated. Why raise the expectations too high when you cannot ultimately meet them?
Next, I often read sentences like “chemistry of aerosol particles during NPF events” in your text. Please be more specific in these places. What is “chemistry”? (It can be a lot of things.) In that particular place, it could mean “aerosol chemical processes related to NPF events” but also “aerosol chemical composition during NPF events”. Be more specific and think of your readers who have a right to brief, yet concise information.
Stylistically, I often found that the blank between numbers and units is missing (e.g., “50nm”). Do correct this.
Last, you might need to update your citation list in those places where necessary.
Otherwise, I think that your paper is in an acceptable form.
