Short summary
This study investigated the effects of meteorological elements on the interannual variation in air quality. It shows consistent variations of PM2.5 concentrations and the occurrence of unfavorable circulation types. The favorable meteorological conditions in 2017 contribute to 59.9 % of the interannual decrease in PM2.5 concentrations, which highlights the importance of atmospheric conditions when evaluating the interannual variations in local air quality.
