In Line 17 in the abstract they might want to replace "taking place" with "appearing". Line 19 of the abstract has a syntax problem. It reads as though the emissions are coming from the research cruises. They could say "as determined for the research cruises" or they could drop "from the research cruises". There are several ways to fix this. Finally, in Line 192 and elsewhere, I'm not comfortable with the use of the word "particle", which brings up connotations of aerosol or something that could be separated physically from the air mass. Perhaps a better word would be "parcel".
