In Figure 1, the black lines make it next to impossible to see the underlying map, where they are 2 km spaced. Could you perhaps separate this figure into two panels with a "zoomed in" center. Additionally, mark any other "significant" cities/sources close to the study region.

Figure 2: Dates are very small and hard to read - increase the size a little?

Figure 6: Legend is very small and quite hard to read in each panel. As far as I can tell the text is identical in each of the three legends. Can you just put one legend above or below the panels, with larger text, to serve the whole figure?

Figure 7: Legend again very small. It can be increased in size a little in the space available.
