Short summary
Evaluation of satellite greenhouse gas data is crucial for climate monitoring and mitigation. We assessed four XCO2 Proxy XCH4 results using Hefei and Xianghe Total Carbon Column Observing Network (TCCON) sites in China. We found that the accuracy of retrieval products varies between both sites. Fundamental assumption of Proxy method leaves uncertainties. Independent XCO2 proxy comparison with TCCON data show discrepancies requiring continuous evaluation for proper determination of XCH4.
