Short summary
Coordinated ground-based and airborne measurements in Paris revealed urban-to-downwind aerosol differences over transport times of 2–6 h. Downwind organic aerosol was more oxidized, and aerosols exhibited higher single-scattering albedo, higher real and lower imaginary refractive indices, and stronger wavelength dependence of absorption. These findings highlight the need to represent evolving aerosol properties in atmospheric models and remote-sensing retrievals.
